Principal and staff profiles

Welcome from our Principal

Mrs Cinzia Greco, School Principal

Kaurna Plains School is a culturally rich and community-focused learning environment built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a deep commitment to Aboriginal education. We honour and celebrate Aboriginal identity every day through our curriculum, Kaurna language programs, community connections, and the cultural knowledge shared by our families and Elders.

Our 2026 School Learning Plan outlines the key priorities that shape our teaching, wellbeing and community work: Literacy Growth, Predictable Routines for Learning, Cultural Framework, and Aboriginal Voice.

We are committed to improving reading outcomes for every child through evidence-based literacy practices. This includes structured reading blocks, small-group instruction, and interventions such as MultiLit and PLD, paired with strong phonemic awareness programs. Teachers work collaboratively to ensure consistency in guided reading and literacy expectations across the school, with a focus on early literacy foundations and continued growth in Years 7–12.

Student wellbeing is at the heart of our work. Our staff are trained in trauma-informed practices, including the Berry Street Education Model, and implement Consistent Predictable Routines to ensure every child feels safe, regulated and ready to learn. We embed interoception, whole-school routines, and relational approaches such as circles and wellbeing supports to help students develop resilience, emotional regulation, and a strong sense of belonging.

We are developing a whole-school Cultural Framework that strengthens Aboriginal perspectives across the curriculum from Reception to Year 12. This includes daily Kaurna language use, the 8 Aboriginal Ways of Learning, and curriculum planning that places Aboriginal knowledge at the forefront. Students are supported to build pride in their identity, connect to Country, and develop respectful relationships grounded in culture and community.

We believe our school is strongest when Aboriginal students, families, staff, and community members have a voice in decision-making. Our School Learning Plan focuses on increasing representation in leadership, governance, community engagement and classroom learning. We value the wisdom of families and Elders and welcome their guidance in shaping our programs and priorities.

Our dedicated educators design learning experiences that build essential skills, strengthen cultural identity and open pathways to the future. Specialist subjects — including Kaurna Language and Cultural Studies, Kitchen Garden, Science, Physical Education and The Arts — enrich classroom learning and allow students to explore their strengths and passions.

Kaurna Plains School is a place of strong culture, strong learning and strong community. We invite you to learn more about our school and join us in supporting the next generation of proud, capable, and confident learners.
